What New Believers And Christians Should Remember To Do
As you begin your walk with Christ, or if you simply find yourself at a point in your
life that you need to gain new perspective on your commitment to follow Christ, we
hope that you will find this helpful and inspiring.
Mark 4:3-8 is a parable spoken by Jesus, and He explained it to His disciples Mark 4:14-20
v:14 - "We are the sower of the word," after we have accepted Christ we should go
out and proclaim His word and live in a manner that people can see Jesus in us.
v:15 - "Some people when they hear the word, Satan comes and takes away the word
that was sown in them." We can't let that happen, and it won't happen if we just
open our hearts to Jesus. Jesus and the gospel can't penetrate the heart refuses to
allow its entrance. The bad part is if we don't respond to His calling our heart will
become hardened, and we will stray from Him. Then it becomes easier not to do His
will the next time. (ANSWER?) Study, read the Bible, and live for Jesus. Hebrews 9:27
says "Every person has an appointment with death, and then a day of reckoning called
the judgment." We want to always be ready.
v:16 - "Some new believers are like seeds sown on rocky places. They hear the word
and at once receive it with joy."
v:17 - "But since they have no root they last only a short time. When trouble comes in
their life they quickly fall away ." The problem with rocky soil is a lack of depth! In
order to hold up our faith in the storm of the old Devil, we need to plant our roots in
Jesus Christ. He will keep them growing. Jesus is our fertilizer and with Him you will
grow and live forever. As long as things are going God's way in our life, we think nothing can happen to
change the course of our life. (BEWARE!) Things are usually pretty quiet around the
sick, the dead and especially in the graveyard. The Devil is going to pounce on you
with all his power and might. When you call on God, the devil is no match. God will not
let you be tempted more than you can stand. "If God is with us who can be against
us", Romans 8:31
v:18 - "Still others, like seed sowed among thorns, hear the word."
v:19 - "But the worries of this life, and the desires for things come, and choke the
word making it unfruitful." We need to clear the thorns out of our life. Jesus said the
thorns symbolized "the worries of life". Don't be too preoccupied with making or doing
anything that will cause you to fail to make a life that counts. Money can't buy eternal
security or salvation. Don't be too eager to be part of the "IN CROWD". They may be a
part of the "OUT CROWD" in their standing with Christ. Don't let anything choke out
the truth of the word of God.
v:20 - "Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a
crop." Bearing spiritual fruit is what a person's life reveals. If your heart is alive with
God you bear fruit much more than you sow.
Jesus said, "By their fruit you will recognize them.",Matthew 7:16
